Good to Know -- Deliveries and Fees.
The drivers have a tough job and are under a lot of time pressures. Most do a great job. But, they are typically in a rush to unload and get to their next stop – and, sometimes, that means they can be late or arrive unexpectedly. And, sometimes shipments get delayed or lost. Drivers are often unfamiliar with the nuances of your business’s receiving set up. This means that, without careful communication and planning, additional fees can add up quickly. You could miss your delivery and be charged re-delivery and/or storage fees, be rushed to accept a delivery that is inaccurate/damaged and have to pay to return/re-ship the items, or unknowingly incur extra fees for allowing inside delivery or unplanned use of a liftgate. It's also not uncommon for carriers to charge post-delivery fees (like for areas near construction) that may or not be valid. Sometimes these designations are in the carriers’ systems, but out of date. And, sometimes, fees are incorrectly charged and need to be dealt with. You need someone keeping an eye on things, so you receive your items in good condition and in a timely manner.

Our team communicates from the quote all the way through to confirming delivery. Here's how we mitigate headaches and keep your freight costs down:

• We gather your order details and offer critical shipment-related suggestions and best practices, like how many items per skid space offer the best price per piece to ship and whether shipping to different nearby address or transit center may save you money.
• When preparing your quote, we confirm whether the destination is deemed residential or limited access, or requires a delivery appointment and/or liftgate service. This ensures the quote is accurate and minimizes surcharges after delivery.
• We also keep your shipping costs down by rate shopping across multiple, nationwide carrier networks that are asset-based. We only work with quality carriers and we don't markup freight - it's a pass through, not a profit center!
• You receive a detailed quote that indicates estimated ship date and transit time.
• Once you've placed the order, we double-check the order and bill of lading (BOL) for accuracy.
• We send communication the moment the freight ships with the expected date it will be arriving so you can plan ahead. We give you tracking and carrier information so you can reach out, if necessary. And, we include a reminder to check all items before signing off on the BOL. If there is damage, incorrect items or quantities we let you know how critical it is to note those on the BOL so a claim can be placed. Or, that in some cases, refusing the shipment is the best course of action.
• We monitor the carrier's web site to confirm transit is moving smoothly and to confirm delivery. Should any issues arise, resolution is carried out with the carrier.
• And, finally, we reach out to you to ensure that the delivery was accurate and not damaged. If there are any damages you've noted on the carrier paperwork, we work to get them resolved.
